Three criminals attempted to smuggle draft evaders from Ukraine to the unrecognized Pridnestrovie for money. Law enforcement detained all participants of the scheme in Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, they face imprisonment.

This is reported by the Main Administration of the Security Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region.

Details of the case

Residents of Vinnytsia aged 19, 18, and 24 decided to profit from draft evaders. They attempted to transport several draftees across the so-called 'green border' abroad. The route of the illegal 'traffic' stretched from the territory of Mykolaiv region to the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovie. The criminals priced their 'services' at 6-10 thousand US dollars per client.

To find those willing to get abroad, the suspects used a messenger and social networks that they administered. There, they offered assistance in illegally leaving for draft-age men and published reports about allegedly successful smuggling operations. Two suspects were detained in Odesa region while preparing to send a new batch of potential draftees to PMR. Another 24-year-old co-organizer of the illegal 'scheme' was detained in Vinnytsia.

What punishment do they face

The suspects have been informed of suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (facilitating illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons). They face up to 9 years of imprisonment.

The court selected preventive measures for the suspects in the form of custody with the possibility of posting bail.

We remind you that recently we wrote about a group of men who walked to Pridnestrovie. Also about the scheme of transporting draftees by trucks.
