New leader for global security: Stoltenberg to chair Munich Conference.


Politician Jens Stoltenberg will become the next chairman of the Munich Security Conference after the 61st conference in February 2025. His appointment marks the end of his 10-year term as NATO Secretary General, a position he held from 2014 to 2024. In addition, Stoltenberg served as the UN Special Envoy for Climate Change and held high-ranking positions in the Norwegian government for many decades.
I've dedicated my entire political life to preserving peace. It is a great honor for me to lead the Munich Security Conference and contribute to its mission "peace through dialogue". The MSC is one of the most important international platforms for conflict prevention, dialogue, and cooperation
Wolfgang Ischinger, President of the Munich Security Conference Foundation Council, expressed his satisfaction and confidence that Jens Stoltenberg will be able to give the conference an even more important and global role due to his world-renowned reputation and extensive experience. He also emphasized the high qualifications of the new Chairman of the MSC.
