In Latvia, a man received a sentence for participating in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.

A citizen of Latvia was sentenced to six years in prison and two years of probation for participating in the war on the side of Russia against Ukraine. The prosecutor proved that this man violated Latvian law when he joined the Russian army in 2023. He served in the artillery unit of the 80th Tank Regiment of the RF Armed Forces in Chelyabinsk, and also participated in the construction of defensive structures for Russian occupiers in Donetsk. The man was arrested while attempting to illegally cross the border from Russia. A citizen of Kyrgyzstan was also convicted in Bishkek, accused of mercenarism and participation in armed conflicts of other states.
