Ukraine has established age restrictions for obtaining a driver's license for various categories, but does not set an upper age limit. This was reported by the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Law 'On Road Traffic', individuals starting from the age of 16 are allowed to obtain licenses for categories A1 and A to operate mopeds and motorcycles. From the age of 18, access to categories B1, B, C1, and C for operating passenger cars and light trucks can be obtained. Categories BE, C1E, CE can be obtained from the age of 19, and categories D1, D, D1E, DE, T — from the age of 21.
There are no restrictions for elderly drivers to obtain a driver's license if they have the appropriate health and ability to operate vehicles.
To obtain a driver's license, several steps must be taken, including studying traffic rules, passing a theoretical exam at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, undergoing practical training at a driving school, and passing practical exams.
When contacting the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a package of documents must be provided, including a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, a medical certificate of health, an individual taxpayer number, and a driver's license of another category, if available.
Visiting the territorial units of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs requires prior registration through the E-Registration system or through a self-service terminal.
