Venice reintroduces tourist tax: how much travelers will have to pay.

Starting from April 18, a new tourist tax will be introduced in Venice. The amount of the payment will depend on the date of ticket purchase. If a tourist buys a ticket less than three days before the visit, they will have to pay double the amount - €10 instead of the regular €5. This new system will be in effect from April 18 to July 27 for 54 days, which is almost twice as much as last year. The collection will take place from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
This tourist fee was introduced in Venice last year to limit the flow of tourists. However, this initiative had virtually no impact on the number of visitors to the city, but it brought in an additional €2.4 million.
Tourists must show the QR code to controllers at the entrance to the city, for example, at the Venice - Santa Lucia train station, to confirm the tax payment. Tourists who book accommodation for only one night are exempt from paying the tax. This rule does not apply to residents of the Veneto region and children under 14 years old. However, even those who do not have to pay the tax must register on a special website.
Venice is threatened with complete flooding by 2150
According to an international project by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Venice could be completely flooded by 2150.
