Fire in an apartment building in Transcarpathia
A fire broke out in an apartment building in Uzhhorod, Transcarpathia. Preliminary reports indicate that a blanket caught fire on the ninth floor of one of the apartments, leading to the fire's outbreak. The homeowner quickly threw the blanket onto the neighbors' balcony, which also caught fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading from the balcony to the apartment. Rescuers reported that the area of destroyed belongings amounted to 4 square meters.
«A blanket is not a dragon – it cannot fly. But it can set a balcony on fire!», emphasized the State Emergency Service.
This fire served as a reminder of an incident that occurred in Khyriv, in the Sambir district, where a private house caught fire during the night. A happy tragedy was avoided thanks to a vigilant cat that woke the homeowners in Time, sensing danger and the smell of smoke.
Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire on the roof, which covered an area of 70 square meters. The house was saved, and no one was injured in the fire.
