Ukrainians may lose temporary protection: an important statement has been made in Europe.

The European Commission commented on the situation with temporary protection for Ukrainians
The representative of the European Commission, Markus Lampert, stated that currently, the European Commission has not yet made a decision on the extension of temporary protection for Ukrainians after 2026. However, they are considering the possibility of providing other statuses that would allow Ukrainians to remain in the European Union. Lampert emphasized that this issue will be decided in conjunction with the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of EU countries.
He noted that the extension of temporary protection until 2026 provides predictability and legal certainty for Ukrainians and EU member states. However, it is also necessary to consider other options, such as other national statuses through work, study, or family circumstances, as well as support for those returning to Ukraine. The decision to extend or not extend temporary protection will depend on developments.
Lampert stressed that a general European solution is needed to ensure predictability, stability, and a balanced impact on the systems of EU member states.
The EU continues to provide support to Ukrainians seeking refuge from the conflict with Russia. Thanks to the activation of the Temporary Protection Directive, over 4.5 million Ukrainians have found safety and opportunities in EU member countries.
Further decisions regarding temporary protection for Ukrainians will be made after consultations with the Ukrainian authorities and EU member states.
