The Ukrainian Navy assessed the Russians' ability to land troops in Odesa.

Russia intends to capture Odesa and break through to the border with Moldova and Romania, but the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine consider the attempt to land troops a suicide mission for the occupiers.

According to the spokesperson of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, the likelihood of a naval landing on the Odesa coast is extremely low. The Ukrainian Navy fully controls the waters of the Black Sea, and any enemy ship approaching the coast will be immediately destroyed.

'In principle, they cannot come closer to our coast than 100 nautical miles because there are missile systems from the Naval Forces waiting for them. Therefore, accordingly, this is unlikely at the moment,' noted Dmytro Pletenchuk.

The spokesperson emphasized that a full-scale landing operation requires a simultaneous offensive from both the sea and land. Without this, such an attempt will be doomed to failure.

Ground offensive on Odesa is impossible

Reaching Odesa by land is also currently unfeasible for Russia. As the spokesperson reminded, in February 2022, the enemy already attempted to implement a similar scenario, but faced defeat - mainly due to a lack of advancement on land.

Moreover, for the occupiers to conduct a ground offensive on Odesa, they would have to overcome at least three large water obstacles, making such an operation even more complicated and practically unreal under current conditions.
