Based on data from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), flight AA1006 took off from Colorado Springs airport bound for Dallas. During the flight, the crew noticed severe vibrations in one of the engines, prompting them to change course and land in Denver. However, one of the engines caught fire while taxiing to the terminal, forcing passengers to evacuate through emergency exits.
Witnesses captured footage of people also escaping through the wings of the plane. Airport staff reported that there was thick smoke near gate C38. However, preliminary reports suggest that no passengers or crew were injured.
US aviation authorities have begun an investigation into the incident. American Airlines expressed gratitude to the crew, airport team, and rescuers for their quick response, which helped avoid casualties.
