Dismantling of memorial objects in Riga
In Riga, the capital of Latvia, the dismantling of memorial objects dedicated to Alexander Pushkin and his muse Anna Kern is taking place. This was reported by LETA.
The Monuments Council supported the decision to dismantle the memorial stone to Pushkin at 7 Citadeles Street. Also, the bust of Anna Kern, the wife of General Yermolai Kern, will be dismantled.
In addition, the Monuments Council decided to dismantle memorial plaques dedicated to the printing house Cīņa, Peter the Great, Andrey Upitis, Lenin, and Janis Zutis.
When making the decision, council members noted that objects related to communist ideology should be preserved as historical evidence so that the “trouble of Soviet ideology” is not forgotten.
Recall that pro-Kremlin activist Elena Kreyla was sentenced to a real prison term of one year for justifying genocide, crimes against humanity, peace, and war crimes.
