Service in the rear for 2 thousand dollars — scheme of a military man from Odesa.

The head of one of the support structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa demanded a bribe from a mobilized person for serving in a rear unit. He was caught red-handed and could face up to eight years in prison.

A military man who wanted to be mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and serve in the unit he chose in Odesa turned to the head of one of the support services for advice on enlistment. However, for solving the issue, the officer began to demand a reward of two thousand dollars. For this amount, he promised to influence the officials of the military unit who make such decisions, explaining that he was personally acquainted and in contact with them.

At the same Time, the figure noted that if the man mobilizes himself, without his assistance, he will not have guarantees for serving specifically in the rear unit. After the money was handed over to the crook, law enforcement officers detained him, and the money was seized.

What punishment awaits

The suspect was informed of the suspicion under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving improper benefits for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions combined with extortion). He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The court chose a measure of restraint for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 1.8 million UAH.
