On the night of August 28, a fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia's Rostov region after powerful explosions. This was reported by local social media and the region's governor Vasily Golubev. The explosions were heard around 02:45 at night, and the sound spread to the towns of Novoshakhtinsk, Aksay, and the western part of Rostov.
The fire at a Russian oil depot near the town of Proletarsk in the Rostov region has been ongoing for ten days straight after a drone attack on August 18. According to the General Staff, this base stored fuel and petroleum products used by the occupying army.
