How many children should Ukrainian women give birth to in order to avoid catastrophe: a demographer's explanation.

Economist Oleksandr Hladun stated that Ukrainian women should give birth to three children to maintain the current population level. According to him, to avoid a decrease in population, 100 women need to give birth to 210-220 children. As many women do not wish or cannot have children, other Ukrainian women must have at least three children.
The expert noted that no European country has such a high birth rate. On average, in the EU, 100 women give birth to 150-160 children. France has the best indicator with a birth rate of 170-180 children.
In 2019, in Ukraine, 100 women gave birth to 123 children, and in 2021 this figure decreased to 116 children. Currently, it is estimated that 100 women give birth to approximately 95-100 children. Although this is not the worst indicator compared to other countries where the birth rate is even lower.
Moreover, Dr. Serhiy Yahodzinsky noted that Ukrainian teenagers who are used to life abroad may remain outside of Ukraine permanently.
The birth rate situation in Ukraine is serious and requires attention, as insufficient birth rates lead to a decrease in population. It is necessary to find ways to support families and stimulate childbirth.
