On the eve of Easter, April 19, 277 warriors returned from Russian captivity. The exchange took place 246 for 246, and 31 severely wounded soldiers were handed over outside the exchange. This was reported by Dmytro Lubinets, the authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights. The Russian side fulfilled its promises regarding the return of the severely wounded. The exchange was organized by employees of various Ukrainian services, including the Security Service, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Ministry of Defense, and others. The departing warriors represent different military units, including the National Guard and fighters from the 'Azov' unit. The youngest defenders were also successfully returned - over 220 people born after the year 2000. The authorized representative reported that during their captivity, servicemen were subjected to unsatisfactory conditions of detention, limited access to medical assistance, light, and air. Their rights were also violated, in particular, representatives of the International Red Cross were not allowed, and they could not communicate with their relatives. After the exchange, the freed soldiers undergo a first survey and record facts of violations of their rights during captivity. Further exchanges are planned. Agreements regarding the exchange were achieved thanks to cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and the President of Ukraine, who is actively involved in these processes. The main goal is to ensure systematic work and regular exchange processes. The soldiers returned from various regions of Ukraine, having defended cities and regions from the enemy. Special attention was paid to those who had been in captivity for a long Time and had serious injuries. It is also worth noting that two citizens of China who fought in the Russian army were detained in captivity. The government of Ukraine is doing everything to return these citizens. Analysis The exchange of prisoners of war is an important step towards reducing the conflict in Ukraine. The return of soldiers from Russian captivity indicates progress in the negotiation process and the fulfillment of the parties' promises. The released soldiers can return to their families and receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance. However, the emergence of new conflict situations and the detention of Chinese citizens makes it important to quickly resolve this issue and return the detained Ukrainian servicemen to their families. Continuing the negotiation process and ensuring the safety of Ukrainian prisoners of war remains a primary task for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
