Up to 16 hours without power: expert names cities with worst power supply.

Ukrainian cities may face power supply issues in winter
According to forecasts, Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv may face a challenging power supply situation this winter. Residents of these cities risk being without electricity for up to 16 hours a day.
The Director of the Energy Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko, warns that Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv are weak points in Ukraine's power system. Kharkiv is under constant threat of shelling and has the highest military risks. Kyiv and Odesa face the problem of insufficient electricity generation.
A challenging situation is expected in Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv, where residents risk being without electricity for up to 16 hours a day.
Especially challenging is the power supply situation in Odesa, where there are almost no internal generating capacities. New generating capacities are being installed in the city, which can provide water supply and partially heating supply under favorable circumstances. However, the timely launch of these capacities is in question.
Odesa's power supply situation is particularly challenging
Kyiv also faces a serious power deficit. The Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was built to supply energy to the capital, can no longer meet all the city's needs. Kyiv lacks 700-900 megawatts of power required from external sources. If this power is not available, the capital could be without electricity for up to 16 hours a day.

The situation could be even worse, the expert emphasizes. If the power system manages to limit outages to 10 hours a day in severe frost conditions, it would already be a positive scenario. However, forecasts for Ukraine's power supply continue to deteriorate.
