In Transcarpathia, a young man was detained for setting the car of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Red Cross on fire. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the arsonist was acting on orders from Russian special services to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region. The perpetrator turned out to be a 21-year-old displaced person from the Vinnytsia region who was looking for quick earnings. He was charged under two articles of the Criminal Code – intentional destruction or damage to property and obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period. The detainee is in custody and faces up to 10 years in prison.
This is not the first case of arson of military vehicles. Earlier, the SBU and the National Police detained five arsonists-provocateurs in Kyiv, who were also acting on orders from Russian special services. Also, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, two local residents were detained for setting fire to the vehicles of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
