In southern Ukraine, Russian forces have changed their tactics and began using large assault units instead of small groups. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Southern Defense Forces. At least 320 Russian assault troops, 40 units of combat armored vehicles, three tanks, and a dozen buggies participated in the combat action. Russian forces also used assault groups from several regiments of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District. The assault took place near the settlements of Pyatykhatky, Stepove, Lobkove, Mala Tokmachka, and Mali Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region. The Southern Defense Forces released a video of the battle and noted that the first hit on Russian military equipment occurred 8 km from the contact line. The fighting lasted more than two and a half hours, during which Ukrainian forces delivered fire strikes on the assault troops.
"Enemy losses: 29 units of military equipment destroyed, 140 personnel destroyed, three tanks damaged. Result: the enemy did not succeed, not a single position of the Ukrainian Defense Forces was lost," the report says.
Earlier, aerial reconnaissance units of the 'Spartan' brigade documented how Russian occupants advanced on the assault using crutches in the Pokrovsky direction. Military personnel noted that this is yet another confirmation that the enemy does not value its personnel. Analysis: News about the change in tactics of Russian forces in southern Ukraine indicates their adaptation to the Ukrainian defense forces. The use of large assault units instead of small groups may be a consequence of developments on the front and an attempt to achieve a strategic advantage. It is important to note that Ukrainian defense forces continue to effectively resist the aggressor, inflicting significant losses in equipment and personnel.
