The Swedish government plans to increase grants for the repatriation of migrants home several times. This was announced by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. He noted that migration needs to be completely controlled and confirmed the intention to increase the amount of money that Sweden offers to migrants as a financial incentive to return to their country.

Currently, the grant consists of 900 euros per adult. According to the new government proposals, it will increase to 32,000 euros. 'We are essentially copying the Danish model and significantly increasing this amount to make life easier for those who wish to return to their country, but for various reasons do not feel that they are doing well in Sweden,' Kristersson said.

The Prime Minister acknowledges that this approach may cause dissatisfaction, but emphasized the main problem - integration. 'We have a problem with integration, and if people who have a legal right to stay in Sweden do not integrate and do not appreciate the Swedish way of life, then at least they can consider returning to their country of origin,' Kristersson stressed.

It should be noted that this initiative is intended to be implemented from January 1, 2026.

Earlier, Ulf Kristersson announced the largest military rearmament plan for Sweden since the Cold War. Sweden's defense spending already exceeds the established NATO indicator of 2%, but this is not enough, believes Kristersson.

It is worth mentioning that Sweden promised to provide the largest package of military assistance to Ukraine amounting to 16 billion Swedish kronor (1.6 billion dollars).
