Missing in Zaporizhzhia: Occupant and Four-Time World Champion in Powerlifting Andriukhin.


The Ukrainian Powerlifting Federation reported that Russian athlete Mikhail Andriukhin has gone missing during combat in the Zaporizhzhia region. He was a well-known powerlifter with numerous victories in his career.
In the fall of 2022, Andriukhin joined the militants and later served as a machine gunner in an assault group. The disappearance of the athlete became known on January 25, when the command reported his missing status during a battle near the village of Robotyne.
Other Missing Athletes
Besides Andriukhin, canoeist Larisa Zhalinska has also gone missing, who served in the National Guard of Ukraine. She stated that she decided to return to Russia, declaring herself a Russian. Zhalinska traveled to Russia using a tourist visa to the Czech Republic and with the help of friends from Russia.
Her decision was shocking, as she was a renowned athlete with numerous victories in rowing. She had two bronze medals and a silver medal at the 2024 Ukrainian Championship, as well as four gold medals in 2023.
