Residents of Kyiv are outraged by the rising tariffs for cleaning the adjacent territory. According to announcements, the fee will increase to 10-14 hryvnias per square meter. However, despite the information about the cancellation of the decision, they received bills with increased amounts. Many houses are already paying for services at the new rates. On average, the rates in the city increased from 5-8 hryvnias to 11-13 hryvnias per square meter. Residents are complaining not only about the very increase but also about its unexpectedness, as well as the deterioration in the quality of services provided by the managers.
Oleg Popenko, head of the Consumers' Union of Communal Services, notes that Kyiv residents should not pay for cleaning the yard if they are not landowners or have not given consent for these services. The law 'On Housing and Communal Services' stipulates that the costs of cleaning the adjacent territory are covered by the owner, and in this case, the owner is the city council, not the residents.
