Italy will help finance humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

Italy has decided to support Ukraine in the fight against mines, allocating 1.5 million euros for humanitarian demining. The agreement was signed with the UN Development Program in Ukraine, with the Ministry of Economy of the country being the main beneficiary. This step is of tremendous importance for the recovery of Ukraine after the conflict.

The agreement was officially signed in Kyiv with the participation of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Julia Svyrydenko. She emphasized that humanitarian demining is key to implementing the national strategy for mine action and will contribute to the country's economic recovery.

'The signed agreement is crucial for implementing the National Strategy for Mine Action and will allow for projects to clear agricultural lands, develop infrastructure, restore economic activity in liberated territories, and facilitate the return of citizens to their homes. The agreement of 1.5 million euros demonstrates the strength of international partnership, which is critically important for the resilience of our state,' - emphasized Julia Svyrydenko.

This agreement is significant as approximately 138,500 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine may be contaminated with explosive objects, posing a threat to the peaceful population and economic stability. Supporting humanitarian demining is an important step for the security and recovery of the state.

The UN Development Program, together with Ukrainian partners, is actively working on implementing advanced technologies for demining. Additional funding will help expand demining operations and support those affected by explosive objects.
