He considers the USA to be a strong strategic partner and emphasized that achieving peace through strength would be beneficial for deterring Russia. The president expressed respect for President Trump's approach to resolving the conflict but noted that Ukraine did not start this war.Zelensky explained what value the USA gains from supporting Ukraine. He noted that Ukraine provides America with all the necessary data regarding the conduct of the war and weapon development. The president also emphasized that American inspectors found no evidence of American weapons being sold abroad.In particular, Zelensky believes that Ukraine serves as a shield, protecting NATO countries from potential Russian aggression. He emphasized that as long as the Russians are not in NATO member countries, their families are not faced with the issue of sending their children to war.The president also mentioned the historical attitude of Russia and the Soviet Union towards the USA. Specifically, he noted that Russians have always wanted to destroy the United States, but Ukraine fights for the rights of Americans just as it fights for its own.Zelensky also commented on the issue of religious freedom restrictions in Ukraine and assured that the problem is not with the Russian Orthodox Church, but with the control of Russian intelligence services over churches in Ukraine.
