Imports of goods into Ukraine significantly exceeded exports since the beginning of the year - customs data.


According to the State Customs Service, in the first quarter of 2025, goods worth 18.5 billion US dollars were imported into Ukraine, while exports amounted to 9.9 billion US dollars.
The stated import amount includes taxable imports totaling 13.9 billion US dollars, which accounts for 75% of the total volume.
Data was also provided on the tax burden on 1 kg of taxable imports, which amounted to 0.50 dollars per kilogram.
The largest import volume was from China (3.9 billion US dollars), Poland (1.7 billion US dollars), and Germany (1.5 billion US dollars).
The largest export volume was to Poland (1.1 billion US dollars), Italy (680 million US dollars), and Spain (650 million US dollars).
Main categories of goods imported into Ukraine
- Machinery, equipment, and transport - 6.8 billion US dollars
- Chemical industry products - 3.2 billion US dollars
- Fuel and energy products - 2.5 billion US dollars
During the customs clearance of these goods, 42.3 billion UAH, 25.5 billion UAH, and 43.6 billion UAH were paid to the budget, which accounts for 27%, 16%, and 28% of total customs payments, respectively.
The top three exported goods from Ukraine were food products (5.8 billion US dollars), metals and products made from them (1.1 billion US dollars), and machinery, equipment, and transport (882 million US dollars).
In the first quarter of 2025, during the customs clearance of export goods with export duty, 81.2 million UAH were paid to the budget.

The most goods were imported from China, Poland, and Germany. The total import volume was more than twice the export volume. The main categories of imported goods are machinery, equipment, and transport, chemical industry products, and fuel and energy products. The tax burden on taxable imports was 0.50 dollars per kilogram. Regarding exports, the most popular goods are food products, metals, and products made from them, as well as machinery, equipment, and transport. In the first quarter of 2025, 81.2 million UAH were paid to the budget from export duties. The volume of exports is significantly less than the volume of imports, indicating the need to develop Ukraine's export potential.
