The Artist Accidentally Learned That His Painting Was Given to the Pope.


Yuriy Pylypiv, a resident of Prykarpattia, has been creating fire graphics on wood for 15 years. His collection includes icons, portraits of world leaders, and paintings about war with a philosophical subtext. One of his works was even sent to Pope Leo XIV as a gift from the Head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
Yuriy Pylypiv works in his small workspace in the kitchen, using pyrography for his art. He spends about a month creating a painting, depending on the theme and genre. In the artist's collection, you can see portraits of prominent figures such as Symon Petliura, Andrzej Duda, Joe Biden, and also the extraordinary portrait 'Monkey with a Grenade', symbolizing Putin.
