A communications, EW, and intelligence specialist explained when it is worth fighting drones with the help of aircraft.

A specialist in communications, electronic warfare, and intelligence, Serhiy Beskrestnov, explained that F-16 fighters can be effectively used in hunting drones if they approach in a 'crane wedge' - three groups of seven. He also noted that these aircraft are almost not used in such situations.
According to Beskrestnov, fighters are well-suited for hunting drones that approach in a 'crane wedge'. Then the fighter can position itself and shoot down all the drones at once. However, shooting from aircraft downwards is not always safe, which is why the tactic of hunting with machine guns from helicopters is more effective in the fields.
Beskrestnov also noted that using fighters or helicopters to destroy one or two drones may be financially suboptimal, especially if many drones need to be destroyed. Recently, Russians have been using many drones to deplete air defense forces in Kyiv, which may indicate a potential missile attack on the capital.
Serhiy Beskrestnov also reported that Russians began using cheap 'Gerber' unmanned aerial vehicles at the beginning of August. These drones do not have a combat part and are intended only for confusing air defense forces.
