DTEK and Electricity Bills - What You Need to Know About Your Electric Meter

Many Ukrainians occasionally begin to doubt the accuracy of the readings on their electricity meters in their apartments, especially when the electricity bills seem excessive and they are sure they haven't used that much electricity.

As it turned out in the News.LIVE editorial office, there are hints on what to do if the meter shows incorrect data.

How to Order a Meter Check

If you have doubts about the readings on your electricity meter, you can conduct a check. To do this, as explained by

DTEK
'Kyiv Electric Networks', you can use online ordering.

The company explained that for this you need to:

  • turn off all electrical appliances in the apartment or house and check if the meter is working. If it does - the device will continue to count kWh (the disk will rotate or the readings on the screen will change);
  • if the meter is working, the consumer needs to select the 'Meter Services' section on the website and order a meter expertise. During the expertise period, another electricity metering device will be temporarily installed.

'After receiving the application, we will generate an invoice based on the characteristics of your electrical installation', the energy workers said.

Recall that the International Monetary Fund advises the Ukrainian authorities to change their approach to tariff formation for utility services. This will help make the energy system financially stable.

We also reported that in Ukraine, recipients of benefits for utility payments will be checked in a new way. All this is for the purpose of improving the relevant legislation.
