Desertion in the Russian Army Has Drastically Increased – National Resistance.

The number of deserters among Russian military in the occupied Luhansk region has increased
According to the National Resistance Center, the number of deserters among Russian military personnel located in the Luhansk region, occupied by Russia, has increased. This is evidenced by raids of the military police of the Russian invasion, which often take place in cities of temporarily occupied Luhansk. In particular, the invaders' police in Starobilsk actively check documents of every male passerby.
In March 2024, a record number of sentences for desertion among Russian army servicemen were handed down in Russian military courts. During the month, judges issued approximately 684 sentences for this offense, which means an approximate daily rate of 34 sentences.
One example of desertion is Lieutenant Artilleryman Ivan Korolyov, who fled the Russian army, illegally crossed the Lithuanian border, and was detained by border guards. He stated that he decided to desert because he did not want to participate in the bloody war.
