Should the team be headed by a coach who worked in the annexed Crimea? Comment from the Minister of Sports.


The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matviy Bidnyy, commented on the appointment of Oleg Polyakov as the head coach of the women's weightlifting team. He emphasized that all candidates for coaching positions will undergo a special check before being appointed. Bidnyy also noted that the appointment will take place only after checking Polyakov's work during his Time in Crimea. He added that people who worked in the occupied territory cannot hold such high positions.
Decision made based on the federation's recommendation
The Minister also stressed that Polyakov's appointment was made based on the federation's recommendation and with its support. He also expressed his position on delegating powers and the requirements for public organizations that bear responsibility for results in the sports sector.
It is worth noting that Oleg Polyakov was appointed as the head coach of the women's weightlifting team of Ukraine by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
This was reported by Honored Coach of Ukraine in weightlifting Anatoliy Orlov. Previously, Natalia Filonenko was recommended for this position. Polyakov worked in Crimea after the occupation in 2014 with his trainees.
